The Project Manager will take ownership of projects by being responsible for the entire project delivery process and accountable for the implementation and realization of projects. As such, they will plan, organize, direct and manage all facets of construction projects and ensure pre-established costs, schedule and scope objectives are achieved.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate work schedule, manpower and equipment requirements in collaboration with the superintendent
  • Validate construction specifications and plans in collaboration with the project different teams
  • Organize and conduct construction site coordination meetings with professionals and subcontractors
  • Supervise and settle disputes or negotiations with subcontractors in order to maintain project standards and delivery
  • Perform risk analyses, recommend and put in place contingency plans in order to ensure the success of the project
  • Follow-up on technical data sheets, inspections etc
  • Follow up on notices of change, estimation, bid to client, negotiation, issuance of purchase orders and/or of contracts
  • Authorize payments to subcontractors and suppliers;
  • Deliver the project in collaboration with the superintendent and obtain client’s final acceptance
  • Supervise end-of-project management such that all end-of-construction and project closing documents are completed
  • Cultivate business relationships with all clients, past and present, with the future in mind

QUALIFICATIONS

  • An engineering degree and membership in the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec
  • Strong communication, time management and negotiating skills with ability to work as a leader, in a team environment
  • Ability to build strong relationships and resolve complex issues
  • Excellent budgeting and scheduling skills
  • Strong MS Office, MS-Project and AutoCAD knowledge
  • Bilingual (French and English)

To provide on-site coordination for all phases of the project, including coordinating subcontractors, material and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being strictly followed, and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. Superintendents shall be responsible for scheduling, inspections, quality control, and jobsite safety.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Schedule subcontractors, consultants, and vendors in critical path to ensure timely completion
  • Perform quality control duties and responsibilities regarding the work being performed
  • Ensure that subcontractor is fully executing and complying with his contracted scope of work
  • Coordinate required inspections with local jurisdictions
  • Identify subcontractor non-compliance with safety, health, and environmental quality standards
  • Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to project team for resolution
  • Maintain daily log (written) of activities on the jobsite
  • Ensure subcontractor has corrected all deficiencies identified by project team
  • Preside over weekly subcontractor meetings designed to coordinate the work
  • Issue notices of non-compliance to subcontractors in regards to quality of work or scheduling
  • Ensure that the job site is always kept in a clean and organized manner

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technical diploma in a construction-related field or equivalent
  • Experience supervising construction sites for commercial, industrial and/or residential projects
  • Calm and shows good judgement
  • Good listening skills
  • Ability to adapt to unexpected situations
  • Holder of a valid driver’s license
  • Bilingual (French and English)

A Project Coordinator assists project managers with organizing and controlling project activities through communicating risks, opportunities and current state of the project. They fulfill their obligations by coordinating meetings, resources, equipment and information.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the project team with coordination and project support
  • Collaborate and keep the lines of communication open when working with team members, trade partners, consultants and clients
  • Review, interpret and update the construction schedules
  • Review and follow-up of shop drawings, RFI’s, material purchase orders, change notice quotes and project completion documents
  • Effectively collect, review and analyze project quotes with emphasis on obtaining the very best value/price
  • Assemble, attend, document and emphasize the importance of project meetings
  • Prepare all end-of-construction and project closing documents
  • Work with Project Manager to develop skills working toward becoming a Project Manager

A construction estimator uses expertise gleaned from working in the industry along with construction plans to estimate necessary expenditures and devise a budget. An accurate and competitive budget can make the difference between the success and failure of any project.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Visit sites with the site manager and project manager
  • Analyze soil reports (geotechnical and environmental)
  • Prepare cost estimates on conceptual, design-build or general tender work
  • Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and contents of estimate
  • Perform preliminary and detailed quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications
  • Prepare tender documents and plans for tendering
  • Liaises with subcontractors for tender and follow-up
  • Reviews tenders from sub-contractors and provides recommendations
  • Reviews design options and recommends best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials

QUALIFICATIONS

  • An engineering degree and membership in the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec
  • Ability to read and understand plans and specifications
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Bilingual (French and English)
